Should You Become A Nurse Or A CNA?

If you plan on having a career in the healthcare industry, there are several options available to you. Two of the best opportunities are to become a nurse or a nursing assistant. Once you understand the difference between being a nurse and being a nursing assistant, you’ll be on the road to a very exciting and rewarding career.

One of the main differences in these two positions is the length of time for completing the education. It takes at least one year to be licensed and working as a nurse. However, the training for a nursing assistant can be completed in a matter of weeks. If you are interested in becoming a CNA (certified nursing assistant), you could be ready for your final exams and to start your first job within weeks of starting off your training.

Another difference in these two positions is in duty requirements. Working as a nursing assistant will not require you to perform the services of a skilled nurse. That does not take away from the importance of the CNA position. You still provide patients with direct care and help them with daily needs.

The third difference is in job availability. It’s true that health care professionals will always be in demand, and the number of CNA positions is always increasing. You might have an easier time finding a job if you choose to become a certified nursing assistant.

Nurses do receive higher salaries than a CNA. However, that should never be your sole reason for deciding what position to train for. If you’re looking for job security and the opportunity to advance, then the CNA position is very appealing.

As a CNA, you get to learn all about health care and learn the ropes. If you choose to become a nurse, your experience as a CNA will come in handy and look good on your resume. Regardless of which position you want to pursue, starting out as a CNA is a good way to go.

As a healthcare professional, you will always be in demand. This demand for qualified people continues to grow. Take the first step and find out what having an exciting and rewarding career as a CNA can do for you.

Both professions are noble. While a licensed nurse passed difficult exams. CNAs passed rigorous trainings. We cannot underestimate the dedication they give their patients that is why they deserved to be honored in our own little ways.

I appreciate CNAs and nurses. My sister is a nurse and she worked as a floor nurse and now as a nurse practitioner. I have also a sister in law who started as a caregiver and now as a CNA. These jobs are difficult, but I suppose very fulfilling if one of these careers is what you want to do. The healthcare industry needs more of these types of workers.

As a person who has taken care of the infirm and elderly, I know hard it is to be working in the medical field. And I really applaud the people in this profession because it is not only a job for them, but also a passion.

I admire people who chose to serve and sacrifice their personal time and go over and beyond just to do their duties. Whichever you choose between these two careers I believe the most important thing is that you have a heart for it.
